Getting Off Track

Alright, so I am way off kilter here. I was getting in this climbing groove, charting my progress, loving the changes and now I’m off track. If you’re in DC or watching the weather, you know that we just got hit with two very large snowstorms. I wasn’t able to get out to my yoga classes, or the climbing gym, or anywhere where I could do cardio. I could have done a resistance training session here at home, but I just didn’t do it! I could have also done a yoga video, but I just didn’t. The one thing I DID do was shovel a lot of snow today which was quite the workout and actually felt pretty good, despite the cold.

So my plan is to do some yoga at home today, regroup, and start over. Small steps towards the bigger goal.

This just shows the difference between workouts you feel passionate about and workouts you don’t. One can be fun playtime (climbing) and the other a chore (doing exercises by myself here at home). Since you have so many physically active choices, fun playtime seems like the logical option so take the time to try things you think you might really love. And remember, our fitness choices are so individual! You may absolutely love the peacefulness and efficiency of doing exercises at home, and you may be bone-chillingly terrified of heights or crowds, or whatever. So choose what’s best for you and enjoy it.

Do your best when your schedule gets wacky and make it a point to be consistent with your workouts. I’m losing a lot of progress I’ve made climbing and doing yoga during this past week, and I’ll work on getting back to where I was in a few days. Losing ground is frustrating, but it’s ok. I can get to where I want to be and so can you.
